Silverback Acres

Tyler Scott founded Silverback Acres in 2024, immediately following his successful completion of the Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture. Inspired by a chance encounter with a particularly delicious hot pepper and “nerding out” about hot sauce in 2021, Tyler sought out where he could learn more and really pursue growing food after his trial of growing peppers on his Seattle windowsill in solo cups didn’t quite work out. At first, he pursued loads of internet research and learned a lot from the talented YouTubers of the farming and intensive home gardening sort. Eventually finding Viva’s programming via Washington Farmland Trust, Tyler realized during the Practicum course that he enjoyed the “doing” of farming as much as the learning. Stay tuned as Tyler develops his growing systems, explores the value-added possibilities of peppers and shares his newly-gained knowledge with his community. Silverback Acres is just getting started!
